happiness

My life has been very interesting lately.
The places I've been and the places I'm going change everyday.
I've been overwhelmed for the most part
but when i sit back and breathe
I think about the things that make me happy.

Apartment

not too many people know.
but moved out with my boyfriend and two of his friends.
we moved out on august 26 by complete luck.
the complex we've moved into at didn't have an available unit the day we came to look at them.
but within 24 hours they called us and told us they'd have one available by next week.
I dont have much exciting news to share.
it still hasn't sunk in that we're living on our own.
of course having to do dishes for me a 3 guys is a reality check.
but overall its been a great experience.
me and my roommate Tyler started a garden on our lanai.

It's evolved since I've taken this picture
but the list of vegetables still remains.
I also have a gorgeous tomato plant in a topsy turvy
i felt bad on day one but its doing a lot better now.

I've also recently started taking bike rides around the neighbor hood.
we have a small playground with a single swing.
It's kind of my get away. I swing and listen to my zune.
I've never felt so alive.
and the added benefit of living behind a grocery store plaza is nice.
anything you need is withing walking distance
and reusable grocery bags are the best inventions EVER!

I've been listening to this song a lot lately.

getting better at life

my life is changing.
for a while now ive been out of school and out of work.
its fall 2010 and I'm going to college and moving out.
to prepare im making myself a weekly routine
and soon i plan on rebooting my sleeping schedule

SUNDAY
crafts- i want to do more crocheting, doodles and water colors.
sewing is always a frustrating option.

MONDAYS
cleaning- a day dedicated to my OCD
i can clean things that seem clean, re-organize,
straiten-up, touch-up, and make sure all things are perfect.

TUESDAY
school- i have 3 classes at random time frames of the day.
ample time to study and do homework!

WEDNESDAY
relax- this day if I'm not working
i plan on spending it relaxing and doing school work

THURSDAY
school- again i have 3 classes at random time frames of the day.
ample time to study and do homework!

FRIDAY
hooping- granted i casually hoop in my room all the time.
I'm setting aside a day where i go out for about an hour or more
and practice new hooping tricks.
Aug-13-2010: i did my first off the shoulder!

SATURDAY
jogging- the day i run a lap or two on my street
and listen to my zune
while I imagine how silly i must look to my neighbors.

music videos for thought

this time 3 videos that are just fun to watch.
i've found them in internet adventures; no back stories.

if anyone actually reads this:
I dont know my direction in all of this.
i soon hope to be able to sell my crafts.
i have water colors and crochet items i'd like to get rid of.
but i've been told other people like my work.
so one day maybe you'll be able to get my work.

tank-top dress

Due to the fact that i live in my room and do nothing.
i wasn't aware that these cute things existed.
I really wanted one but I'm quite honestly broke.
So i went home and made myself a tank-top dress.

Supplies:
old tank top
fabric
elastic
scissor
sewing machine

1)cut tank-top about an inch below the bust line

2) i used a dress as a template; cut 1 inch around
* make the top wider

3) sew down both sides and fold up the bottom to hem.
4) fold down the top and sew about an inch wide strip
* to string elastic through
5) sew the tank-top to the skirt leaving room for elastic
6) thread elastic and sew ends together.

wear with pride!

music videos for thought

The Matches- I saw them at warped tour '07.
they gave a great preformance .
I'm a proud listener of the "Decomposer" CD.
not so much of their latest CD "A Band On Hope"

The Mountain Goats- A friend showed me this band.
He played us th "This Year" video; which honestly had me lost.
But he quickly recovered with this video.
*they make great music videos and they sound great too.
I can't say much because I'm a new listener.

Ok Go- Anyone alive knows the "Here It Goes Again" video.
I found this video while on StumbleUpon on the TED website.
TED is a conference that brings People from different fields of
Technology, Entertainment,& Design to talk about new research and development.
Personally i love the Rube Goldberg machine!

DIY

These are some easy and gorgeous DIY projects.
And my favorite part of it all is that you get to...

a lot of these projects I'm saving to do myself for when i get my own place.
but I'm already collecting supplies.

I really like this round photo framing idea.
i think I'd probably Mod it up a bit by painting the rolls black or white.
but i love abstract photos that were used.

I like this junk mail clock because it looks like something you'd buy.
But it's as easy as threading some magazines together.
I've thought it over and if i do this project i would make it so
that the 12, 3, 6, &9 hours where the longest.
Then I'd make the other hours a medium size and the filler "minutes" the shortest.

I'm incredibly in love with this floral wall design.
i wouldn't change a thing.
i love the brown of the cardboard in this one!

and this gorgeous DIY shower curtain.
i love the idea of being able to create your own inexpensive shower curtain.
it's easy to buy scraps of fabric from your local craft store.
so if you dont normally sew no worries.
and the packs of scrap fabrics usually match up in some magical way.

i really hope you like these
and if anything they've inspired you to recycle, reduce, & reuse.
it's cheaper than going to the store and you have more of a connection.

hula hoops

I'm a Hooper.

ive been doing this for over a year.
its been so much fun.
my boyfriends sister introduced it to me.
it's been coming quite naturally.
i like to give credit to hooping for my weight loss.
its an incredible all over your body work out.
if you have the time to watch both videos i thank you for it.

APRIL 2009

JUNE 2010

hooked on baking

today i decided to bake some sweets.
No-Bake Cheese Cake, Chocolate Chunk Brownies,
and my new personal favorite carrot cupcakes!
i added walnuts in this time.
i knew i was missing something!!!!!
my mom decided to grab my camera and snap a couple pics.
they look delicious!

I LOVE CARROT CUPCAKES!!!!

my messenger bag

i made this bag earlier this month.
it is in fact made from a pair of pants.
along with some canvas fabric.
it was a lot of fun to make and i wish i'd make a tutorial for it.
I'm currently making two commissioned bag for Jason's sister.
a small messenger bag and a hand bag.
i wish i would have made these into tutorials.
but i always think of it after I've cut things to pieces.
but oh well cant complain with results.

also by having this bag ive received punned
nick names such as Ms.PocketsWorth
and really just having anything to do
with me having 6 pockets in my bag.
but i think its why i love it so much!

sage francis

Saturday was Jason's birthday.
We drove to Orlando to go see Sage Francis in concert
with B. Dolan and Free Moral Agents.

Free Moral Agents opened the show.
I personally wish i knew more about the band.
they played about a 4 song set.
high energy stage performance wish i knew the songs.

B. Dolan was second up and an incredible performer.
I listened to his new CD " Fallen House Sunken "
to prepare for the show.
but i honestly didnt much like it.
but seeing him live was a whole different experience.
i have a new level of respect for him as an artist and person.

Sage Came on and informed the crowd that this was going to be his last tour.
He's been on the road for about 10 years.
He promised to continue to make music, but i dont think he could stop if he tried.
he also put on the best show ever.
He delivered all of our "mine and jason's" favorites.
and the way he delivered it was poetic.
Knowing now that this was his final tour for a while
I really regret not having a video camera.
or at least a camera with audio!!!!
but pictures are worth a thousand words?

At the end of his set Sage went stage diving.
he got back to the stage but moments
later came back down and through the crowd.
this is when everyone went in for pics.
jason ninja'd himself into place and i snapped it.
but i was on the stairs and sage was in front of me.
so i did what anyone would have done.
put my arm around him, snapped a pic,
kissed his beard and told him he was beautiful.
yes i did exactly that!
he gave me a small warm chuckle and hugged me.
needless to say sage is a sweaty man. <3

carrot cupcakes

so today i made some carrot cupcakes.
i got a recipe from elsie flannigan's blog.
i really like carrot cake and i figured i'd give it a shot
and hope it came out like my childhood memories.
i changed a couple things to make it more like carrot cake.
but i have to say im anything but disappointed.

2 cups of flour
1 cup of carrots
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3 teaspoons of cinnamon
3 eggs
1 cup of oil
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

mix dry ingredients first.
flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

in another container mix together the
eggs, oil, and vanilla.

i was lucky enough to have my little brother around
and i got him to shred up the carrot for me.
about 3 whole carrots = 1 cup of carrots.

and then mix all ingredients very thoroughly.
there always seems to be a little bit of dry ingredients hiding in the folds.

PAM BEFORE YOU PUT MIX IN MUFFIN PAN!
its a common mistake...

bake for about 15-20 at 375 degrees.
(i cooked them at 350 for longer and i think this should
be a good temp to cook them through with out burning.)
stab with toothpick to see if they're done
*when toothpick comes out with nothing on it

and some cream cheese icing?
3-4 ounces of cream cheese
2 teaspoons of milk
and confectioners (powdered) sugar
i cant tell you how much i used because i kept adding till i got the right consistency.
but if i had to GUESS it would be about 3/4 cup or 1 cup

top and enjoy!

the rebirth

so i gave up on this blog.
but i think i'll give it another shot?
i recently cleaned up my room "where i craft"
so i hope to be doing more.

in this black container i have all my crafts.
it looks very unorganized from this angle.
but i assure you its more organized than i am right now.
all of my paints neatly rowed, my paint brushes,
random markers and pens, and my crocheting needles.
the mason jars contain clothes pins and buttons.

This is my lovely yarn collection.
i crochet like its going out of style.
wool yarn on the left and regular yarn on the right.

And even though my favorite color is blue.
i find myself with many green items.
