JUNE 2010

hooked on baking

today i decided to bake some sweets.
No-Bake Cheese Cake, Chocolate Chunk Brownies,
and my new personal favorite carrot cupcakes!
i added walnuts in this time.
i knew i was missing something!!!!!
my mom decided to grab my camera and snap a couple pics.
they look delicious!

I LOVE CARROT CUPCAKES!!!!

my messenger bag

i made this bag earlier this month.
it is in fact made from a pair of pants.
along with some canvas fabric.
it was a lot of fun to make and i wish i'd make a tutorial for it.
I'm currently making two commissioned bag for Jason's sister.
a small messenger bag and a hand bag.
i wish i would have made these into tutorials.
but i always think of it after I've cut things to pieces.
but oh well cant complain with results.

also by having this bag ive received punned
nick names such as Ms.PocketsWorth
and really just having anything to do
with me having 6 pockets in my bag.
but i think its why i love it so much!

sage francis

Saturday was Jason's birthday.
We drove to Orlando to go see Sage Francis in concert
with B. Dolan and Free Moral Agents.

Free Moral Agents opened the show.
I personally wish i knew more about the band.
they played about a 4 song set.
high energy stage performance wish i knew the songs.

B. Dolan was second up and an incredible performer.
I listened to his new CD " Fallen House Sunken "
to prepare for the show.
but i honestly didnt much like it.
but seeing him live was a whole different experience.
i have a new level of respect for him as an artist and person.

Sage Came on and informed the crowd that this was going to be his last tour.
He's been on the road for about 10 years.
He promised to continue to make music, but i dont think he could stop if he tried.
he also put on the best show ever.
He delivered all of our "mine and jason's" favorites.
and the way he delivered it was poetic.
Knowing now that this was his final tour for a while
I really regret not having a video camera.
or at least a camera with audio!!!!
but pictures are worth a thousand words?

At the end of his set Sage went stage diving.
he got back to the stage but moments
later came back down and through the crowd.
this is when everyone went in for pics.
jason ninja'd himself into place and i snapped it.
but i was on the stairs and sage was in front of me.
so i did what anyone would have done.
put my arm around him, snapped a pic,
kissed his beard and told him he was beautiful.
yes i did exactly that!
he gave me a small warm chuckle and hugged me.
needless to say sage is a sweaty man. <3

carrot cupcakes

so today i made some carrot cupcakes.
i got a recipe from elsie flannigan's blog.
i really like carrot cake and i figured i'd give it a shot
and hope it came out like my childhood memories.
i changed a couple things to make it more like carrot cake.
but i have to say im anything but disappointed.

2 cups of flour
1 cup of carrots
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt
3 teaspoons of cinnamon
3 eggs
1 cup of oil
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

mix dry ingredients first.
flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

in another container mix together the
eggs, oil, and vanilla.

i was lucky enough to have my little brother around
and i got him to shred up the carrot for me.
about 3 whole carrots = 1 cup of carrots.

and then mix all ingredients very thoroughly.
there always seems to be a little bit of dry ingredients hiding in the folds.

PAM BEFORE YOU PUT MIX IN MUFFIN PAN!
its a common mistake...

bake for about 15-20 at 375 degrees.
(i cooked them at 350 for longer and i think this should
be a good temp to cook them through with out burning.)
stab with toothpick to see if they're done
*when toothpick comes out with nothing on it

and some cream cheese icing?
3-4 ounces of cream cheese
2 teaspoons of milk
and confectioners (powdered) sugar
i cant tell you how much i used because i kept adding till i got the right consistency.
but if i had to GUESS it would be about 3/4 cup or 1 cup

top and enjoy!

the rebirth

so i gave up on this blog.
but i think i'll give it another shot?
i recently cleaned up my room "where i craft"
so i hope to be doing more.

in this black container i have all my crafts.
it looks very unorganized from this angle.
but i assure you its more organized than i am right now.
all of my paints neatly rowed, my paint brushes,
random markers and pens, and my crocheting needles.
the mason jars contain clothes pins and buttons.

This is my lovely yarn collection.
i crochet like its going out of style.
wool yarn on the left and regular yarn on the right.

And even though my favorite color is blue.
i find myself with many green items.
